Let me start out by letting you know that the staff at your location in North Hollywood is friendly, attentive, helpful and fairly quick! I'm a pretty regular visitor to that location, as I work nearby and hate eating corporate food! The fact that your business is locally run and has a seasonal menu has tremendous appeal for me.
Being that this is Los Angeles, I eat salad for lunch probably 4 days per week. Sometimes I don't have time to make my own lunch, and that's where Pitfire comes in. In the fall, I get the Persimmon, in Winter the Beet, and last spring, I liked the Grilled Peach salad as well.
So this is where the constructive feedback comes in. I LOATHE onions. Overall, I'm a pretty finicky eater, but onions literally make me ill- heartburn for days, regardless of how they're prepared. In fact, the reason why I always order the seasonal salad is that it usually doesn't have onion in it, or if it does, it's a supplementary ingredient that can be easily omitted without sacrificing the salad.
Today, while taking my 35 minute lunch break in the middle of a busy work day, I walked into Pitfire Noho and saw with nothing less than absolute horror that the Citrus & Beet Winter salad has been replaced by Escarole & Grilled Onion. Seriously??
I flipped the menu. Every single salad, save the drab, nothing but cheese, lettuce & bread house salad, has onions in it. Lunch = massive disappointment.
Being a picky eater, I have a personal rule- I don't overwhelm the kitchen with demands. I don't order a salad no nuts, (too fatty), no bacon (pigs are smarter than dogs), no egg (ewwww), no onion (because they're actually toxic to my system). If I have to modify more than one ingredient, I find something else on the menu.
Please, please, please, please, help me find something else on the menu!! it's like someone kicked my puppy. Please get rid of the grilled onion salad, or at least add some hercot vert or fresh tomato, just something so I'm not faced with a salad that's all one color, which is horrifically boring!
best,
PS- Look at the BEAUTIFUL salad they made me @ Pitfire last year! Why not make this the menu item and kill the damn onions?? :-)
